Nick Mueller, MA, MEd, is the Executive Director of Cochise Chess, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that he founded in May 2022. Under his leadership, the organization has grown from its inception to serve over 600 members across eight locations in Cochise County, Arizona, and Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. His efforts have been instrumental in securing seven grants in the first half of 2024 and leading a successful fundraising campaign at the historic Greenway Manor. Collaborating with public libraries and local nonprofits, Nick has built a diverse, bilingual instructional team to teach chess skills to participants ranging from children to seniors, emphasizing community engagement and educational development of the whole person.

In addition to his work with Cochise Chess, Nick is the Principal of Cascade Tutoring, providing individualized tutoring services to students of all ages in subjects such as math, writing, and standardized test preparation. He also serves as an instructor at Arizona State University, where he teaches writing intensive courses and supports students in developing community-based, multimodal projects. His educational background includes an MEd in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and an MA in English from Arizona State University, with a BA in Psychology. Fluent in English and conversational in Spanish, Nick has made significant contributions to both the educational and nonprofit sectors in his communities.
